Are Baby Wet Wipes Toxic?
Handheld Shattaf Bidet Sprayers
Personal hygiene & cleanliness
Stainless steel shower sprayers
Do you know of all the chemicals in Baby Wet Wipes? It has been my life passion to improve as many people’s lives as possible since I started The Shattaf bidet sprayer company. Due to the recent escalation in the use of Wet Wipes by people after using the toilet, it is my responsibility to make sure you are aware of the chemicals in Wet Wipes , and then you can make an informed decision on whether you wish to continue using wet wipes or upgrade to something safer.
And importantly, if you are a parent, this whole situation is even more important. Therefore, it is my duty to help you make educated and responsible choices.
What Chemicals Are in Wet Wipes?
You might want to look at the ingredients next time you buy Baby Wet Wipes to make sure that you understand what chemicals you could be wiping on your baby.
These are just some of the chemicals I know of which are being used in the production of Baby Wet Wipes.
- Potassium Laureth Phosphate
- Polysorbate 20
- Tetrasodium EDTA
- Methylparaben
- Malic Acid
- Methylisothiazolinone
- Tocopheryl Acetate
Preservative Chemicals used in Wet Wipes
The preservatives used in wet wipes are not safe by any means. They are Methylparaben and Methylisothiazolinone which may cause allergic skin reactions.
Studies carried out in laboratories also suggest that methylisothiazolinone can also cause serious damage to your brain cells and the nervous system.
The important thing you should know about methylparaben is that it mimics estrogen and may disrupt the normal function of the hormone system. Some people might argue that small amounts won’t harm you. And I guess that is everyone’s choice.
1,4-Dioxane Contamination Is Possible
Two of the most dangerous chemicals which are often used in wet wipes are Potassium Laureth Phosphate and Polysorbate 20. They are both produced by using carcinogenic ethylene oxide, which may contaminate the final product with carcinogenic 1,4-dioxane.
Don’t just take my word for it, the Environmental Protection Agency has advised that 1,4-dioxane is “likely to be carcinogenic to humans” by all routes of exposure.
Final Thoughts on Chemical Wipes
Remember, your baby’s skin is thinner than yours, meaning that more substances get absorbed into the bloodstream.
So, do you really feel like still using wet wipes on the sensitive skin around your tender bits, never mind your baby, knowing these facts about chemical-laden wet-wipes?
Should we be even calling them wet wipes or baby wipes? If governments demanded that they be called Chemical Wipes do you think you would still use them?
Please feel free to pass this information on to your family and friends, because everyone should be aware of the long term dangers before using these products.
Admittedly, the dangers creep up on you, so damage won’t be seen instantly, but the massive growth in cancers over the last 30 years is worrying enough, to need to start living differently.
What Is The Alternative To Wet Wipes?
Don’t be sucked in to all the hype surrounding the fluffy cuddly advertisements for wet wipes.
