In a recent post titled “Americans achieved a “C-minus for their hand hygiene habits” I reported on worrying statistics related to our hand hygiene habits, and that it could be viewed that we’re not improving our habits as a society.

And worse, that these poor hand hygiene habits were contributing to our sickly generation of kids.

Some people might question is it important to wash your hands?

They might think that our bodies are strong enough to fight off these infections.

But the professionals tell us it is important to wash our hands.

They inform us that hand washing is the single most effective way to prevent the spread of infections.

You can spread certain germs / bacteria casually by touching another person.

Or touching the surfaces they touched like elevator buttons, or handrails.

You can also catch germs when you touch these contaminated objects or surfaces and then you touch your face including your mouth, eyes, and nose.

Proper hand washing techniques include using an adequate amount of soap, rubbing the hands together to create friction, and rinsing under running water.

Are We Improving Our Hand Hygiene Habits?

Perhaps yes. A recent study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention believes that effective hand hygiene has been improving since the mid-1990s.

Professor of microbiology at the University of Arizona, Dr. Charles Gerba noted that as many as 50% of all Americans do not wash their hands before leaving the restroom.

Today, restroom hygiene has significantly improved and manufacturers” product technologies have played a big part.

Bidet Sprayers Are Improving Our Personal Hygiene

Bidet sprayers are playing a huge part in improving our personal hygiene.

No longer do your hands have to come into contact with the bacteria through toilet paper.

Of course we still need to wash our hands when using the bathroom, but by not using toilet paper, your exposure to common germs are significantly reduced.

The cleanliness of restrooms is always a top priority in any facility.

This is why many companies are investing in touch-free technology.

You will have seen many buildings are now using ‘Touch-free Technology’ that require no touching whatsoever.

Automatic hand driers, auto flushing toilets, no touch taps and the like are becoming more and more common, thankfully.

I believe more people are becoming aware of the importance of hand hygiene which is why sales of bidet sprayers will continue to rise.

I know you don’t work hard week in week out, to have to put up with nasty toilet paper.

You deserve a better quality of life, in every area.

And that definitely included your hand hygiene and body hygiene.

You do not want to be exposed to the dangers of cross contamination and the risks involved when you visit a public toilet.

It is also could for the companies when investing in bidet sprayers and touch free technology.

  • Employees have less days off sick when they use bidet sprayers instead of toilet paper.
  • When employees see touch-free technology in their workplace, they know their boss cares about their health and well-being.

Let’s dig a bit deeper to see some more driving factors for companies to upgrade their bathrooms with bidet sprayers and touch free technology?

There are three main factors that drive technology application in the workplace bathrooms:

  • Of course health and personal hygiene are paramount

Surfaces in public bathrooms are an important potential source of undesirable germs. Various studies confirm the presence of harmful microorganisms, low hand-wash compliance, and increasing awareness of restroom visitors on the importance of personal hygiene on health. Maintaining a high restroom cleanliness level, a high hand-washing compliance, and addressing the public’s growing concerns about touching restroom surfaces and fixtures are therefore key.

  • It’s a question of economics

Cleanliness affects the economics of a facility in multiple ways, both positively and negatively. Clean and hygienic restrooms will enhance your visitors and staff’s experience

Reducing staff absences makes sound economic sense but also helps customer retention. Installing bidet sprayers and structural improvements, such as touch-free soap dispensers, fixtures and hardware will all increase the lease value of the building, eliminate expenses from fixture abuse and damage, and cut excessive water/sewage costs.

Any investment will easily be offset by an attractive return, while ecological certified cleaning products, water and energy savings are helping the environment as well.

  • And of course it’s down to company image.

Enhancing and safeguarding your company’s image through the cleanliness of the restroom is more important than many companies realize.

Research shows that around 70% of visitors rank finding a clean restroom as extremely important and a similar percentage responded that they would avoid a facility in the future if they found the restroom to be dirty.

Just think about it. How do you feel when you go into a public bathroom in a restaurant, coffee shop, bar or hotel and the bathroom is just nasty?

Facility owners and managers need to understand that investing in bidet sprayers and touch free technology makes sound commercial sense on a number of levels.

I would say many companies are starting to wake up and see the benefits of investing in bidet sprayers and creating a positive restroom experience for their customers and employees.

Who doesn’t want to reduce costs, increase value, and make a positive contribution to our society?

There is obviously tons still to do, as you’ll know yourself.

Way too many bathrooms are disgusting and outdated.

I even ask hotels if they have bidet sprayers installed in their bathrooms BEFORE I book a room.

I just refuse to use nasty old toilet paper anymore.

Come on guys, it’s the 21st century!!

There is no need for hotels to still force us to use ancient toilet paper.
